Sobeys Songs of Christmas

I found this old newspaper insert in an old thrift store record…

Back on Saturday, December 13th, 1980, The Chronicle-Herald and The Mail-Star had this one sheet newspaper page you could fold up and use as your handy ‘selection of favorite Christmas carols for your holiday singing pleasure!’

That’s all I know I’m afraid. I find it odd that favourite is spelled without the ‘u’. I assume it’s Canadian, since as far as I know Sobeys only operated in Canada. The Chronicle Herald is out of Nova Scotia so that makes sense as well. Oh well, maybe they were reusing supplied copy from somewhere else.

  1. I remember when all of the local papers, grocery stores and even some pharmacies would issue these annually.
