More Christmas sounds from the Ontario Lottery Corporation…

Another one?!? Apparently there are more Ontario Lottery albums given out that I was not aware of. No date on this one either, but it’s presented by Hon. John Eakins, Minister of Tourism and Recreation for Ontario, so that dates it to between 1985 and 1987 (though not likely 1987 because Eakins had left by then). And D. Norman Morris presented on the Ontario Lottery Corporation side and he served from 1979 to 1988, so it’s definitely late 80s. Since the other OLG Christmas offering The Sounds of Christmas came out in the same period (1985-1986), then chances are one came out one year, and the other the following year. Anyone remember which came first?

This is another 7″ EP, playable at 33 1/3, with four songs per side, all public domain.

Side One

  1. Deck The Halls (1:03)
  2. What Child Is This (3:00)
  3. The First Noel (2:26)
  4. Coventry Carol (1:12)

Side Two

  1. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (2:26)
  2. Away In A Manger (1:30)
  3. Angels We Have Heard On High (2:42)
  4. Christians Awake (2:10)

Featuring: The Orpheus Choir, Under the Direction of Brainerd Blyden Taylor.

So there we have it, another OLG Christmas offering from Ontario’s past. I guess if you keep looking, you never know what you’ll find. Curious to see if this is it or not. Time will tell I suppose…
